Thank you for stopping by to my personal website!
My name is Savvas Chanlaridis (pronounced Sáv-vas Han-la-ri-dis) and I am a Data Scientist at Kivos Analytics, having transitioned to the private sector in 2025. I obtained my PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Crete in 2024, where I worked in the Stellar AfterLife & Transients group at the Institute of Astrophysics - FORTH under the supervision of John Antoniadis.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) where I minored in Nuclear & Elementary Particle Physics. I then moved to the University of Bonn (Germany) from where I was awarded a Master of Science degree in Astrophysics.
In 2020 I moved back to Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a guest researcher in the Gravitational Waves group led by Nikolaos Stergioulas where I studied the effect of stellar wind on the evolution of low-mass helium stars. From 2021 to 2024, I conducted my doctoral research at the University of Crete and FORTH, focusing on numerical modeling of the formation and evolution of neutron stars.
In 2024, I embarked on an exciting new academic journey, pursuing a second Master of Science degree in Data Science and Machine Learning at the Hellenic Open University. This decision was fueled by my profound interest in leveraging data-driven methods to unravel complex phenomena. Building on this foundation, I transitioned to the private sector in 2025, where I now work as a Data Scientist at Kivos Analytics, applying machine learning and advanced analytics to solve industry challenges.
Feel free to navigate through my website, learn a bit more about my research, or follow me on my social networks where we can discuss the cosmos, data, and the fascinating intersection of the two!
